Storyline
A famous film director remembers his childhood at the Cinema
Paradiso where Alfredo, the projectionist, first brought about his love of
films. He returns home to his Sicilian village for the first time after almost
30 years and is reminded of his first love, Elena, who disappeared from his
life before he left for Rome.
Storyline
Fred C. Dobbs and Bob Curtin, both down on their luck in
Tampico, Mexico in 1925, meet up with a grizzled prospector named Howard and
decide to join with him in search of gold in the wilds of central Mexico.
Through enormous difficulties, they eventually succeed in finding gold, but
bandits, the elements, and most especially greed threaten to turn their success
into disaster.
Storyline
It is 1942 and the
German submarine fleet is heavily engaged in the so called "Battle of the
Atlantic" to harass and destroy British shipping. With better escorts of
the Destroyer Class, however, German U-Boats have begun to take heavy losses.
"Das Boot" is the story of one such U-Boat crew, with the film
examining how these submariners maintained their professionalism as soldiers,
attempted to accomplish impossible missions, while all the time attempting to understand
and obey the ideology of the government under which they served.
Storyline
An out of work pulp fiction novelist, Holly Martins, arrives
in a post war Vienna divided into sectors by the victorious allies, and where a
shortage of supplies has lead to a flourishing black market. He arrives at the
invitation of an ex-school friend, Harry Lime, who has offered him a job, only
to discover that Lime has recently died in a peculiar traffic accident. From
talking to Lime's friends and associates Martins soon notices that some of the
stories are inconsistent, and determines to discover what really happened to
Harry Lime.
Storyline
Drugs. They consume mind, body and soul. Once you're hooked,
you're hooked. Four lives. Four addicts. Four failures. Despite their
aspirations of greatness, they succumb to their addictions. Watching the
addicts spiral out of control, we bear witness to the dirtiest, ugliest
portions of the underworld addicts reside in. It is shocking and eye-opening
but demands to be seen by both addicts and non-addicts alike.
Storyline
Six
criminals, who are strangers to each other, are hired by a crime boss Joe Cabot
to carry out a diamond robbery. Right at the outset, they are given false names
with an intention that they won't get too close and concentrate on the job
instead. They are completely sure that the robbery is going to be a success.
But when the police show up right at the time and the site of the robbery,
panic spreads amongst the group members and one of them is killed in the
subsequent shootout along with a few policemen and civilians. When the
remaining people assemble at the premeditated rendezvous point (a warehouse),
they begin to suspect that one of them is an undercover cop.
Storyline

Atticus Finch is a lawyer in a racially divided Alabama town in the 1930s. He
agrees to defend a young black man who is accused of raping a white woman. Many
of the townspeople try to get Atticus to pull out of the trial, but he decides
to go ahead. How will the trial turn out - and will it change any of the racial
tension in the town ?
Storyline
An inordinately complex man who has been labeled everything
from hero, to charlatan, to sadist, Thomas Edward Lawrence blazed his way to
glory in the Arabian desert, then sought anonymity as a common soldier under an
assumed name. The story opens with the death of Lawrence in a motorcycle
accident in Dorset at the age of 46, then flashbacks to recount his adventures:
as a young intelligence officer in Cairo in 1916, he is given leave to
investigate the progress of the Arab revolt against the Turks in World War I.
In the desert, he organizes a guerrilla army and--for two years--leads the
Arabs in harassing the Turks with desert raids, train-wrecking and camel
attacks. Eventually, he leads his army northward and helps a British General
destroy the power of the Ottoman Empire.
Storyline
Amélie is a story about a girl named Amélie whose childhood
was suppressed by her Father's mistaken concerns of a heart defect. With these
concerns Amélie gets hardly any real life contact with other people. This leads
Amélie to resort to her own fantastical world and dreams of love and beauty.
She later on becomes a young woman and moves to the central part of Paris as a
waitress. After finding a lost treasure belonging to the former occupant of her
apartment, she decides to return it to him. After seeing his reaction and his
new found perspective - she decides to devote her life to the people around
her. Such as, her father who is obsessed with his garden-gnome, a failed
writer, a hypochondriac, a man who stalks his ex girlfriends, the
"ghost", a suppressed young soul, the love of her life and a man
whose bones are as brittle as glass. But after consuming herself with these
escapades - she finds out that she is disregarding her own life and damaging
her quest for love. Amélie then ...
Storyline
In the end of the Nineteenth Century, in London, Robert
Angier, his beloved wife Julia McCullough and Alfred Borden are friends and
assistants of a magician. When Julia accidentally dies during a performance,
Robert blames Alfred for her death and they become enemies. Both become famous
and rival magicians, sabotaging the performance of the other on the stage. When
Alfred performs a successful trick, Robert becomes obsessed trying to disclose
the secret of his competitor with tragic consequences.
